Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about GPSwise, GNSS interference monitoring, GPS spoofing and jamming, real-time availability, analytics, and integrations.

Basics: spoofing vs jamming

What is GPS spoofing?

GPS spoofing is the transmission of counterfeit GNSS signals designed to mislead receivers into computing an incorrect position, time, or both.

Spoofing is fundamentally deceptive: the receiver may still report a “valid” solution—but it can be wrong.

What is GPS jamming?

GPS jamming is the intentional emission of radio-frequency energy that degrades GNSS reception. Jamming typically reduces accuracy or causes loss of GNSS position and timing in the affected area.

Jamming is a denial/disruption effect: it reduces reception quality rather than injecting false positions.

What is the difference between spoofing and jamming?

Spoofing deceives a receiver with false signals so it outputs incorrect position/time. Jamming overwhelms or degrades reception so the receiver loses GNSS or cannot trust it. GPSwise monitors both and visualizes them as distinct categories.

GPSwise: detection and real-time

How does GPSwise detect and track GNSS interference?

GPSwise uses ADS-B navigation data and anomaly analysis to identify patterns consistent with GNSS disruption. By aggregating signals across aircraft, GPSwise can highlight affected areas and track interference over time.

GPSwise is designed for wide-area situational awareness and monitoring. It complements (and does not replace) on-board resilience measures.

Is the GPSwise map real-time?

Yes. Live monitoring and up-to-the-minute analytics are available with a subscription. Free users can explore recent historical data depending on availability and access level.

Does GPSwise provide alerts?

GPSwise can support operational workflows through integrations and notifications, depending on subscription level and integration setup. For integration options, see Integrations or contact us.

Integrations and use cases

Who uses GPSwise?

GPSwise supports airlines, ANSPs, authorities, and security teams that need GNSS interference awareness for operational decision-making.

GPSwise is integrated into Lufthansa Systems Lido, Aviobook, and Skypath, delivering real-time interference context into flight planning and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) workflows.

Is GPSwise available in the cockpit via EFB?

Yes. Through integrations (including Lufthansa Systems Lido, Aviobook, and Skypath), GPSwise can deliver GNSS interference awareness in cockpit and operational environments, supporting both planning and in-flight awareness.

What industries does GPSwise support beyond aviation?

GPSwise is designed for wide-area situational awareness and can also support maritime, logistics, and security use cases where GNSS disruption impacts operations.

Interference Analytics and fleet monitoring

What is Interference Analytics and who can access it?

Interference Analytics is an investigation and reporting workspace that helps analyze interference trends, affected regions, and event timelines. It is available to corporate subscribers.

Can I use Interference Analytics for fleet monitoring?

Yes. Corporate subscribers can monitor interference exposure for fleets using filters such as callsign patterns and ICAO24 identifiers, depending on data availability and integration setup.

API and embedding

Can I access the data via API or embed GPSwise into my tools?

Yes. GPSwise offers API and integration options for embedding and operational workflows. Contact [email protected] to discuss access and integration requirements.
